I have to say you are right on with your tips. I've been following the very same pattern you use for years. I will never forget before I discovered the right way to travel long distances, I was on a trip to Madrid on a red-eye. I went straight to my hotel to take a short nap. I woke up at 7 a.m. the next day and didn't know if it was 7 p.m. the night before or if I had (yes, I did) miss my first day of vacation. I was so confused I had to consult the concierge who must have thought "...those crazy Americans!" Again, your advice is right on.
