Before I started tweeting, I used to think that Twitter was for the birds, but I have found that it is not only very valuable on many levels, but a lot fun too.
As you know, on Twitter you only get 140 characters to tweet and post a profile, so I'm compiling a living list of fun travel gals to follow on Twitter. It's a living list because it keeps growing and evolving so check out these women on Twitter. I know that you'll enjoy their tweets and Twitter conversation as much as I do.
@Heather_Poole Fasten your seatbelts and follow Heather Poole. This real life flight attendant tweets about her everyday adventures, writes for Gadling.com, is working on a book for Harper Collins, has blog at http://www.HeatherPoole.com and wears flammable polyester (her flight attendant uniform, of course). Her tweets are engaging, amusing and provide an insider peak into the world at 35,000 feet.
@journeywoman Evelyn Hannon is the CEO of Journeywoman, largest online travel resource for women+free tip newsletter going to 72,500 women in 100 countries. She has incredible travel advice for women and I adore her and her tweets!
@WellnessTravel Anne Dimon is the editor and writer for Travel To Wellness Magagzine that covers travel, spas, fitness & culinary topics. I've met her on an L.A. tweet up at Yamashiro in Hollywood and she definitely walks the talk -- and also runs it. She's currently living like a local in San Miguel right now but she is just one example of a new travel friend that I've met on Twitter. Check out her twenty travel question challenge on this website.
@Lori_Moreno Lori Moreno's Twitter profile reads: "Attorney Escaped Corporate Blog Luxury World Travel Events Spas ✈ Innovation L♥VE Inspiration Community Management PR Social Media. I make You Your Brand Shine." She joined Anne Dimon and me for a tweet up at Yamoshiro and is a genuine down-to-earth person that I wish you could all meet! But for now, follower her tweets! She's a twitter favorite!
@poohstraveler Erin De Santiago has a fascinating life traveling the world. She's one of those "friends I've never met" but hopefully we'll be more than ships passing in the night on her next trip to L.A. (where her parents live). Her twitter profile describes her as: "Freelance travel, food & wine writer based in Taipei. Traveled to 30+ countries & still going strong! Love culinary travel, great wine, & all things Disney!" Add her to your twitter follows. She will not dissappoint.
@HotelHostess Holly is your Hotel Hostess Extraordinaire, an everyday Jet-setter and all-around self-proclaimed Travel Maven. Her mission is to help women explore the world – one destination at a time.
@JenniferMiner Jennifer Miner is surprised to find herself living in Southern California, after spending most of her years on the East Coast. She’s a true travel lover, who wishes she had more time to see distant parts of the world. At this point, however, SeaWorld and Disneyland seem to make for easier family travel. She strives to raise her two daughters in such a way that they appreciate the natural wonders of the world as much as the amenities of a luxury resort. So far, the upscale accommodations are winning! Jennifer is one of my L.A. tweet peeps and a real gem!
@KaraSW Kara Williams lives in the Colorado Rockies with her husband and two young children. She and her family regularly travel to either U.S. coast, Mexico or Hawaii for their annual “beach fix.” As proud owners of a beat-up pop-up camper, they take loads of family camping trips around Colorado and neighboring states in the warm-weather months. (But she counts spa getaways with girlfriends among her all-time favorite weekend escapes — shhhhh!)
@BethBlair Beth Blair currently lives in Minnesota with her husband and two young children after a long stint in Tucson, Arizona. Moving around the country isn’t new to Beth; she has called 12 cities/towns home and lived in every U.S. time zone. She is a former flight attendant who traded her wings for a laptop. She now utilizes her insider’s perspective to assist others in planning and enjoying the perfect vacation.
@SoloFriendly Gray Cargill's blogger profile reads, "I have traveled to five countries and 16-plus U.S. states and have made numerous solo trips. Why do I travel alone? I usually can’t find someone else who has the money or desire to travel or who wants to go when and where I do. So my options are 1) don’t travel or 2) travel alone. I choose to go it alone. Now that I’ve done it a number of times, I love it." Nuff said! You can find out more about Gray from my 20 Questions for Travel Bloggers challenge. You'll love her friendly tweets on travel and the land of enchantment. She's a great travel gal follow and inspiration!

@chickybus Lisa E. is a travel addict (solo/backpacker) whose favorite way to get into the moment is…to travel off the beaten path. She believes that self-discovery can happen anywhere. A temple. A village. A forest. A castle. A family’s living room. A chaotic market. A shanty town…. And even on a chicken bus, full of passengers and maybe a chicken or two, speeding through the Andes Mts. Love her sense of adventure! Don't know if I'd do the chicken bus "thang" myself.
@TravelingWithS Cathy Sweeney offers her unique perspectives on places, people, food and entertainment - based on a lifelong passion for travel & new experiences. Since then, she has spent more than 20 years as a freelance writer and editor contributing to numerous print publications (and sibling websites) including Travel and Leisure, Condé Nast Traveler, Vogue, Gourmet, Cooking Light, Outside Traveler, Metropolitan Home, McCall’s, Child and Bride’s. Now, she is a travel journalist, author and editor-in-chief of Farewell Travels Select Escapes: Ideas, Bookings, Savings. So, I guess the bottom line is that she really knows travel!
@TravelsWithTwo I met Melanie Waldman at an L.A. travel bloggers tweet up! She's awesome! @TravelsWithTwo features her tweets and her website is about a couple (Melanie and her husband) looking to unplug from work, broaden their world and reconnect with each other over good food, great wine and, well…a comfortable bed. Great tweets!
@Soultravelers3 @Soultravelers is a family of three highly creative people and a mostly well oiled, harmonious team. They always wanted to have international travel be part of their family experience. Many factors came together including our ages, the housing market, schooling and a desire for more quality family time and freedom. They made a travel plan based on their dreams and now they're living that plan. Fun to follow!
