Yosemite Mirror Lake in Northern California's Yosemite National Park is an amazing view for anyone. I've seen photos of it for years, but had no idea how gorgeous and special it would be to actually be there in person. Last summer, after living in California for twenty years, I took my first trip to Yosemite. Little did I know that there would be a day that would change my life and it all started with renting bikes for the day for me and my niece, Alexis, and nephew, Tyler.
After renting our bikes, one of our first stops on our bike ride after a quick view of the Merced River was Yosemite's Mirror Lake, a small, seasonal lake located on Tenaya Creek that gets its name honestly as you can see the beautiful reflections in the water in the photo above. Alexis and Tyler actually waded in the ice cold glacial waters. The lake is filled with a run off of snow from the winter season and even though it was July, the water was freezing cold.
Cycling has become a new passion for me so I now love renting a bike (if I can't bring my own) in every location I visit, if I can. A few weeks after the Yosemite vacation, I purchased a hybrid Diamondback Insight bicycle and have now put over 1600 miles on it in less than nine months.
I also enjoyed renting a bike in Monterey, California, a month after my Yosemite trip when I was in Pebble Beach for a video shoot. I rode through Pacific Grove, California, and enjoyed spectacular views of Monterey Bay.
I ride my bike almost daily now in Los Angeles, California, where I head to the beach, Lake Balboa and the Chandler bike paths. There's nothing like the view from my bicycle...wherever it takes me.
