Five Travel Mistakes That Cost You Big Bucks
(continued)

Travel Mistake #3:

Not Getting the Best Price when Booking Online.
Our number three travel mistake that will cost you big bucks is not getting the best price when you're booking your vacation online and that's good travel advice. Not all travel sites are created equal when it comes to getting the best price or the best deal. Most savvy travelers know this but a lot of people who shop occasionally for travel online probably don’t. There is nothing I hate more than paying more for something when I could have got it for less. Are you the same way I am? I think you probably are and I always want to get to the best price for what I’m purchasing whether it’s a toaster at a department store or an airline ticket.

There is some key travel advice you need to know when you’re booking online about how the travel industry works:

• The best time to get the best price on an airline ticket is Tuesday nights at midnight (EST). This has to do with when airlines reevaluate inventory, supply and demand, and “blah-blah-blah.”
• If you book your trip as an entire vacation package (including airfare, hotel and car rental) you can usually save a couple hundred dollars or more.
• Travel prices are as volatile as the stock market and are based on the supply and demand of travel inventory (excess or tight) of airlines seats on a fight or hotel rooms. It's basic Econ 101.

Book Your Trip

Booking travel online should be quick and easy…not to mention affordable and that's why I like Expedia. Did you know that you can save up to $525 when you book your flight and hotel together at Expedia.com? For the best deals, book 60 days or more before you travel because usually the further out you plan, the better the package rate.
