Guilin Bravo Hotel - Review

Picturesque Location near Banyan Lake

You will love the Guilin Bravo Hotel and its location near Banyan Lake. I have such fond memories of my stay there with my friend, Sara, who's an ex-pat living in China.

Every night when we returned from our day of touring ancient villages, terraced rice paddy fields and taking in the amazing sites of the Li River via a river cruise, we would take a leisurely stroll around Banyan Lake on our way to dinner in the center of town.

There is a very nice promenade right in front of the hotel that we could see from our hotel room. The tree lined promenade takes you to the city hall and to the city center via bridges. Twin pagodas are within 15 minutes of a nice walk (if it is not raining too heavily). There is also a night market that is open until midnight that you should not miss.

Usually I book directly via Rovia Travel but this time I preferred booking a complete tour package via a Chinese travel agency as Sara and I were traveling from Beijing. Our package included a local English speaking guide, a private driver, admissions to all our attractions and it was worth the price. We had a tastefully decorated spacious room with a view of the lake. The hotel staff was very polite, the hotel was clean and so was our room, and the bed was quite comfortable. I also liked the getting the hotel slippers, a tradition throughout China.

The Guilin Bravo Hotel opened in 1987 and was refurbished in 2006. All rooms and suites have air-conditioning and heating, safety deposit box, minibar, ADSL Internet access, IDD/DDD phone, private bathroom, TV and free-in house movie channel. The hotel restaurant also has a hot breakfast buffet every morning.

We also enjoyed walking around the interior of the hotel with its shops. Public areas inside the hotel are also nice and clean.

The hotel is located at the city center and 1.5km from Guilin Railway Station and 28km from Guilin Liangjiang International Airport. The hotel has 329 guest rooms and suites, non-smoking rooms and handicapped rooms available.

Don't miss getting a traditional Chinese foot massage (aka Foot Knead in Chinglish) in the hotel for about US$10-15 with tip.
